The Northeast Rugby Union tournament (NRUs) will be hosted by West Point Military Academy. The game against Canandaigua scheduled for that weekend has been canceled so that we may take our entire Varsity team to West Point.
We will enter the tournament as the #2 seed and play a match on Saturday and a match on Sunday. If we win both games we become eligible for the National Sweet 16 Tournament in Sandy, Utah on May 21-22nd. This qualification is specifically for community-based teams and is a separate than winning our conference and playing for a state title that same weekend. If we qualify for both competetions we may be forced to decide between the State Championship and the Sweet 16.
All players are required to provide a photo copy of their report card to their coach by April 27th to remain eligible for Rugby.
We take pride in producing great Rugby players, citizens, and students.
All players that will be on vacation over Spring Break need to make an effort to maintain the fitness level we have worked so hard to achieve.
Each player missing practices should train at least 3 times: 3 mile run twice, 1 interval training (2 sets of ladders).
After practice on Thursday April 22nd we will be doing some repair work to Egypt Park.
More information will follow, but players should plan on devoting an hour of time to this community service project.
After practice on Saturday May 1st we will be cleaning-up the cemetary in the Village off Summit Street.
This was a very rewarding community service we did last year that is becoming a yearly tradition. Players should plan on devoting 1-2 hours to the clean-up effort.
Saturday’s schedule against St. Edwards:
- Varsity: Players arrive at Northside at 9:15, kickoff at 10:30 and 12:15
- JV: Players arrive at Northside at 1:45, kickoff at 2:00
- Snacks will be provided throughout the day and food after each game.
