During that time he has served as head coach at the modified level in basketball and softball, and is currently head coach of the varsity indoor track program. His Rugby career began at Buffalo State College in 1993, where he served as captain in 1995. At the conclusion of the 1995 spring season, he was selected to play in the NYS East/West All-Star Game. Upon graduation, Coach Moran relocated to New England and began his club career with Springfield RFC, playing in the competitive New England Rugby Football Union. After two years with Springfield, he returned to New York, and joined the Rochester Aardvarks RFC. In the summer of 2001, Coach Moran was a member of that team as they qualified for the National 7’s Championships, as well as being Midwest finalists. As a member of a dominant Western squad, Coach Moran played in five Empire State Game’s finals in as many years – earning three gold, and two silver medals; earning MVP honors in 2002. Playing for the Buffalo Rugby Club from 2003-2008, Moran competed in three Midwest Division II Championship matches – winning twice (one with our very own Coach Kirsch), with those teams finishing as high as #8 in the nation.
